Understanding Reaction Time & Display Latency

Neuromuscular Reaction Pipeline

Human reaction time consists of photon perception on the retina (~20-40ms), signal conduction along the optic nerve (~10ms), cortical visual processing (~70-100ms), motor command generation (~20ms), and spinal motor neuron trigger into muscle contraction (~30ms). The absolute human physiological limit is ~100-120ms.

Display & Input Lag Influence

Your measured score reflects both your biological reaction and physical hardware latency: mouse polling rate (1000Hz = 1ms vs Bluetooth = 8-15ms), display refresh window (60Hz = 16.7ms frame time vs 240Hz = 4.16ms), and panel pixel transition (GtG). High refresh rate gaming displays drastically shorten visual latency.
