Why Subpixel Layout Matters
Most modern operating systems use Subpixel Rendering to make fonts look smoother. Windows ClearType, for instance, assumes a standard RGB (Red-Green-Blue) layout. If your monitor uses BGR (common in some Gigabyte and Sony models) or an OLED Pentile layout, text can appear blurry or have 'fringing' (colored edges) unless the OS settings are manually adjusted.
Did you know?
Standard OLED panels use WRGB or Pentile layouts, which differ significantly from both LCD RGB and BGR standards. This tool helps identify those specific subpixel gaps.
