OLED burn-in is permanent image retention caused by uneven degradation of organic light-emitting diodes. When static content (like taskbars, HUDs, or channel logos) remains on screen for extended periods, those subpixels degrade faster, leaving a faint shadow or ghost image.
Our tool generates full-screen 5%, 20%, and 50% neutral gray patterns, pure primary colors, and near-black gradients. Gray and solid color slides reveal subtle uneven pixel aging and banding that are invisible during normal video playback.
Temporary image retention can often be resolved using pixel refresh / pixel cleaning cycles built into your monitor. True permanent burn-in cannot be undone by software, but can be prevented with dark mode, auto-hiding taskbars, and regular pixel shifting.
Black crush occurs when near-black dark gray shades (levels 1-5%) are clipped into absolute pure black (0%), causing shadow details in movies or games to disappear. Our Black Level test pattern helps you calibrate brightness and gamma to preserve dark details.
